Developed in the early 1800’s by Swedish physiologist Per Henrik Ling, Swedish massage is a combination of Chinese, Egyptian, Roman and Greek massage techniques together with his exceptional knowledge of physiology, anatomy and gymnastics. Probably one of the most well-known and popular of all the massage types, Swedish massage is a safe therapy that effectively works on the physical and psychological levels of the whole body.

Treatment starts by lying down with only part of the uncovered body massaged. The body experiences long gliding strokes, always in the direction of the heart. Also movements such as kneading, rhythmic tapping, friction and vibration to help relax, ease muscular pain and provide numerous other health benefits such as improving muscle tone, lymphatic drainage (detoxification) and alleviating stress. In all Swedish massage a medium, such as organic sweet almond oil, is used to lubricate the skin truly a holistic massage therapy.

Massage Therapy is an ancient healing art and is described as the manipulation either manuel or mechanical of soft body tissue and muscles for therapeutic purposes. Various movements are performed for the purpose of promoting circulation of the blood and lymph, relaxation of muscles, relief from pain, restoration of metabolic balance and many other benefits both physically and mentally.

It can re-energise the body restoring vitality and promotes a degree of self-healing.
